In line with the strategic priorities of the Digital Education Action Plan (2021-2027), the programme aims to support this effort to engage learners, educators, youth workers, young people and organisations in the digital transformation journey.
The programme will support the first strategic priority of the Action Plan, the development of a high-performance digital education ecosystem, building capacity and critical understanding in all types of education and training institutions on how to exploit the opportunities offered by digital technologies for teaching and learning at all levels and for all sectors, and on how to develop digital transformation plans.
The programme will also support the second strategic priority of the Action Plan by supporting actions aimed at enhancing the development of digital skills and competences at all levels of society and for all (including people with fewer opportunities, students, job seekers and employees). Emphasis will be placed on promoting both basic and advanced digital skills, as well as digital literacy, which has become essential for everyday life and to enable people to navigate in a world full of algorithms and to participate fully in civil society and democracy.
The programme should reach a wider target group both inside and outside the Union through the increased use of information, communication and technology tools, the combined use of physical mobility and virtual learning and virtual cooperation.
In addition, the Lifelong Learning Institute is already in the process of developing a national strategy and an annual action plan to address this priority through targeted actions.
